Gills Bar and Grill.............. 551 Highland Ave (Across from Trilogy's Tattoos and next to Newby's)...... Memphis, Tennessee 38128.............
Bryan, the general mgr. wrote us about putting his bar in our BARS page. After a few e-mails back and forth we decided that his place was worth checking out......problem......we're in KY. So we sent some really good friends of ours, who are very active in the Memphis Biker Community, maybe you know them - Bear & Jeannie - to check out Bryan's place. Ol' Bryan couldn't have set up himself, a more glowing report than the one Bear and Jeannie gave us!!! ha ha They said the atmosphere was really laid back and cool, and that there was tons of room to hang out. There's plenty of things to do there too.....2 pool tables, 3 dart boards, 2 Golden Tees, 2 Mega Touches, Live music, and soon plenty of events for your riding and partying pleasure!! Gill's has Karaoke on some nights and the cool thing was that if you didn't want to hear it the bar was large enough to go elsewhere and still enjoy the surroundings without the bad singing!! ha ha More raves on the menu and service....more specifically, the Ultimate Nachos, to wit they said for the low price was the best they ever had!!! Bryan sent us a menu and just looking at it I can see they have a winner....I mean a place can't be all bad that lets you create your own Wraps, Calzones (my personal favorite) and Pizzas out of tons of great and unique items!! They've got the best Happy Hours I've ever seen!! Bear was pretty adamant that this place has great potential and he wants to be there to see it happen!! It's officially become their new hang out. So go and join them on a Saturday night, or during one of the cool events they'll be lining up....or hell just go and hang anytime and tell 'em Ford, Annette, Bear & Jeannie sent cha!!! I know that if we ever make it back to Memphis for a visit that we'll be stopping in!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stonewalls....... 2700 Block on Whitten Rd.
We haven't been to this one yet......we hear tell they have an awesome, if not huge, biker night on Wednesdays.......and if you're not there by 3pm you don't get a seat, and if your not there by 5pm, you're lucky if it's standing room only!!! We'll have to check it out!! Anybody got pictures or an opinion-either way-on Stonewalls?? Let us know what you thought.........or directions to.........and don't forget to buy us a beer when we DO make it over there!! ha ha UPDATE: We finally made it over there! The first time, we went on a Wed. Bike Nite. It was a bit cool outside but the turnout was great. We saw some awesome bikes!! Sorry, we forgot to bring the camera. The 2nd time we went we enjoyed the inside. They've got a great set-up in there........they have a pool table and almost half the bar is dance floor, with a set-up for live bands. We sat near the kitchen and saw some mouth-watering platters come out of there!! We plan on going back for their Lobster and Steak special !! While we were there we met the owner, O.W. Winslett. He was really cool and very friendly. We enjoyed talking with him and during that talk, found out that he owns the shooting range across the street~Whitten Arms. He definately knows his firearms and laws. We declare Stonewalls a definate hit!! The bartenders are great and the atmosphere comfortable. Hmmm......can you say "new hang-out"? Check it out, Memphis!! And let's not forget the "buy us a beer, if you see us" part !! ha ha ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Time Out............... 206 Tracy Rd, Atoka, TN This is a really cool place to hang on the weekends. They usually have a band playing and 2 pool tables going all the time. Check out the back where you can sit outside and/or play horse shoes and drink with your friends. They do great BBQ out back too! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Club 51........ Millington, TN....Hghwy 51.....901-555-1212 Formally "Coconut Joes" in Millington, the new owners have made a real difference in the look of the place!! The back of the bar is what impressed us the most. The place is still as comfortable as it always was......2 pool tables and bands on the weekends. We hear tell that the new owners WANT to encourage the biking community to come and be as comfortable there, as they once were. We also hear from very reliable sources, that the owners will be helping out with benefits for bike clubs and other functions. Stay tuned to this channel for further updates on events at this hangout. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bel Air.............. Memphis........Sycamore Rd. We found this to be a very comfortable place to hang out, and near home (Memphis proper). We found this place after a night of bar-hopping, and finding outrageous cover charges everywhere. A friend told us, in passing, that this was a place bikers hung out. So we checked it out and stayed the rest of the night. We happened in on a night that the Def-Tones were playing. The music was great and there were several pool tables.........like I said we had been bar-hopping, so MANY beers later....... how many pool tables there were, is unknown, at this point........let's just say several tables, and be done with it........for we have all had nights such as this!!!! ha ha Testify Memphis!!! Mugs.............. UPDATE!!!!!! 4396 Raleigh-Lagrange......Memphis, Tennessee 38128.............
Hammer .....did your "no colors" policy come back to bite ya? We see your site no longer exists. Is the bar still there?
The Hideaway.............. Cave Creek Road, "Somewhere in Cave Creek, AZ".....or check out their site....
We've stopped in here a few times and always enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Everybody's cool.....we recommend sitting in the deck area. Then you can check out all the bikes coming and going. We live a ways from here, in Mesa, so we dont make the trek often, but the ride up is cool too. Check out their site, as Bike Week is about to start here in Phoenix and they have tons of rides going on from here. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Harold's Saloon.............. Right down the road from the Hideaway in Cave Creek We came upon this place after we left The Hideaway....we we're bar-hopping. Checking out the area. We had heard alot about Cave Creek and that it was very biker friendly.....IT IS! Sonny Barger owns a Harley shop up there. Anyway, we stopped in Harold's and really liked the atmosphere. They had live music going on and they were telling us that it used to be Dick Van Dyke's favorite watering hole before he stopped drinking. We recommend hanging at the bar, the bartenders are cool! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Billet Bar.............. 3752 N. Scottsdale Rd. Scottsdale, AZ We were asked all the time by the locals if we had been here yet, so we HAD to go and see what all the fuss was about. Don't get us wrong, it was an extremely beautiful bar....with a lush back area full of huge tropical plants and a couple of pool tables, I especially was oohhing and awwing over the brushed aluminum that cover the entire bar. Not to mention Ford oohing and awwing over all the beautiful bikes parked out front (it's also attached to a bike shop)....it was very cool.....but it wasn't the kind of bar we were hoping to make our hangout. Too rich for our blood. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Robin's Nest.............. Southern Avenue (somewhere between Dobson & Alma School) Mesa , AZ We were only in this bar once, but that was all we needed. We had an absolute blast in here. The night we went they were hosting an HA fundraising party. Colors of all kinds were partying and enjoying themselves...and no trouble. We stayed til close and spent a good $100 minimum in there. Well worth it! Strangely enough everytime we go by there is not a soul in the parking lot anymore. Closed? Private? We're not sure. We'll definately return if they ever throw another party!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jake's O Mine.............. Main St. Apache Junction, AZ
We came across this place when we ran into some riders on a Saturday night on a "nothing to do" ride. We asked them where all the good biker bars were....not RUB. They said they were on their way to one now, so we followed them. We went to a unique hole in the wall first and had a beer, then took off and landed at Jake's. We liked it before we even went in.....you could tell that there were some REAL riders here. It was even better when we got inside. The atmosphere was comfortable, even welcoming, kinda felt like we had been here before (nod to Mug's) So we settled in to party and had a blast!! The Owners are very hands on and make you feel welcome too. Beaver and Margo are bikers from way back themselves.... which gives the bar even more credence as a true biker bar. They made us feel really welcome and before you know were inviting us to join them and about 80 other bikers the next morning for a run. Not a run for a cause or any special purpose, just a bunch of good ol' bikers gettin' together for a ride in the Arizona countryside!! We went and enjoyed the sh** out of ourselves. We became regulars after that......we had found home! ha ha Unfortunately we have been trying to save our money for the run to Redwood and moving into a house, so we haven't been there for awhile. If you stop in, let 'em know we sent cha!! Tell Josie (Annette's favorite bartender) We'll be back!!!!
